Christie’s distinctive business methods have made her a success, as she is the founder of the Looms and Weaves brand in Amazon. Christie’s method is to buy quality products from small producers and sell them through Amazon India. Christie’s success story has become one of Amazon’s bestsellers. Amazon have officially published her story through their official youtube channel.


Initially started selling Handloom

Her Native place is Kannur one of the northern districts in Kerala. From a young age, the rhythm of weaving and the smell of handloom garments have been borne in her mind. Since then, she has been interested in handloom clothing. 

Born in the land of handloom, it may be that you are fascinated with fashion designing. She was familiar with all handloom clusters in the city. When she went there, she teach them about the designs and color combinations of the garments. After her marriage she came to Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala and got a job as a fashion designer at Hantex. 

Her work at Hantex helped her get to know more weavers and understand their difficulties. The governments do many things for the poor weavers but they do not reach them. Knowing that they were paid very low wages, she decided to do something for the underpaid common weavers.


Beginning of Looms and Weaves

When she quit my job and entered the business, I thought that marketing of local handloom products was good. That is how they started a shop exclusively for handloom products called Looms and Weaves in Thiruvananthapuram.

But initially it was not successful. The business did not make any profits then they thought that the handloom was not so well known to the people of Thiruvananthapuram as in Malabar, the northern part of Kerala. Also, they can’t compete with other shops in the same field. 

A friend of Christie tells her about the possibilities of online business when she thinks about what’s next. But she had little idea about online selling and Amazon like platforms.

It was the time to launch Amazon Services in India. They contacted at Amazon’s Bengaluru office. With their help, the brand Looms and Weaves was registered in Amazon. Then the products were listed one by one.

 Amazon wanted to see the products. When they realized that the products were good quality, they took over marketing. With the help of Amazon, the online presence has been helped them to survive.

 Initially Christie got a few orders. They used to deliver products directly to the consumer.  But now they are using Amazon’s Fulfilment Centre Service. The products will be packed in bulk and shipped to Amazon’s FBA centre. When order receives from customers, Amazon will pack and deliver the products to the customers. If the product is damaged at the time of delivery, we may try to replace it with new ones.

Now daily sells hundreds of products in different parts of the country. Female customers do their best to help when they know that looms and weaves run by a lady entrepreneur.

Looms and Weaves is one of the best-known brands on Amazon today. They have more than 10,000 customers every month. Sixty percent of them are women. Most of them are regular customers.

 Now, they are looking to sell other websites also. They strive to deliver Looms & Weaves products in the US through Amazon Global selling. Then they can send the products in Europe, Japan and the Gulf markets. They have started own website, www.weaveskart.com.

 Looms and Weaves sells over 700 products, including chips, spices, handicrafts, and ayurvedic cosmetics products.  Everything is bought from cooperatives, cottage industries and farmers from Kerala. The aim is to sell quality products to the needy.  When Christie started her business, she made sure to buy products from the local weavers. It was also decided that women should be given priority.  In addition to Kerala products, the Looms & Weaves brand seeks to sell more than fifty quality products made by weavers, farmers and artisans from other states.

Journey to Amazon’s Best seller in Kerala

She start the business without much preparation. Only aim to market Kerala’s unique and quality products more people at affordable prices.  Despite the low competition in the handloom products in online, it took some hard work to get a good reputation. On the beginning, less than ten orders were received to them. From there, it took a lot of hard work to get to seven hundred products inventory.
